In line with the UAE’s ambition to become a global entrepreneurship hub, Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), the nation’s largest industrial company outside the oil and gas sector, recently concluded the latest season of its EGA Ramp-Up programme. The initiative is designed to accelerate the growth of UAE-based startups by providing intensive training, personalized mentorship, and investor connections.

Program Overview and Impact

Launched in 2022 and supported by the UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism, EGA Ramp-Up focuses on nurturing startups that advance sustainability, innovation, and economic growth across key sectors such as digital innovation, supply chain logistics, environment, and health and safety.

  • Over 300 applicants competed to join the 10 finalists, underscoring the program’s appeal and entrepreneurial vibrancy.
  • The finalists benefited from tailored mentorship from EGA executives and global partners like Microsoft and Sandooq Al Watan.
  • The program seeks to not only grow businesses but also develop new potential suppliers to increase EGA’s local procurement.

Winning Startups and Future Prospects

Recent winners include HyveGeo, The AM Lab, and Magmec, pioneering breakthrough solutions in their respective fields. Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, EGA’s CEO, highlighted the company’s pride in fostering a culture of innovation, noting that many participants may become strategic suppliers, enhancing UAE’s industrial ecosystem.
