Editorial and commercial separation
Editorial decisions should remain separate from advertising, partnerships, profile packages and other commercial relationships. Commercial teams may introduce opportunities or provide logistical information, but payment does not determine the factual conclusions of independent newsroom coverage.
Sponsored and partner material
Paid, partner and sponsored material must be labelled clearly. It should not be presented in a way that causes a reasonable reader to mistake it for independent reporting. Commercial content remains subject to checks for false statements, unsupported superlatives and unverifiable credentials.
Conflicts of interest
Editors and contributors should disclose material financial, professional or personal interests relevant to a subject. Where a conflict cannot be managed through disclosure and independent review, the person concerned should not control the coverage.
Corrections and complaints
Commercial relationships do not prevent readers or subjects from requesting corrections or making complaints. The Corrections Policy and Complaints Policy apply to all published material.
